Bromley High Street welcomes Saucy Bird as The Artful Duke closes Its doors for the final time

London’s hospitality sector is changing fast. Younger people are drinking less, there’s more competition for food and drink, and increased business rates have led to a spate of pub closures across the country. It’s a national trend with local implications. Last month, Bromley High Street lost both the Barrel & Horn and the Artful Duke within weeks of one another. However, as drinking habits change, we’ve seen new restaurant concepts thrive across Bromley and the London area.

Saying goodbye to a local favourite

After an incredible journey, The Artful Duke closed its doors for the last time on Sunday, 26th April. The pub went out with a final weekend to remember, with Third Wheel and Dirty Peaks bringing the curtain down on one of the best-loved pubs in Bromley. As the sun set on the Artful duke, the venue reopened on Friday, 1st May with a brand-new partnership and a fresh restaurant concept: Saucy Bird.

What can you expect from Saucy Bird?

Under the trusted stewardship of the original team behind the Artful Duke, Saucy Bird offer delicious rotisserie chicken, perfectly roasted potatoes, irresistible sides, and a range of bold, homemade sauces — all served with the same passion for great hospitality. Their cocktail menu has all our faves, with the spicy margarita one to add to your bucket list. If you’re visiting during lunch, try their 1/4 rotisserie chicken, potatoes, house slaw and sauce for £15. The perfect combo of price and taste.

Situated directly opposite The Glades shopping centre, Saucy Bird enjoys a great position on the high street, and its unique menu and competitive pricing should make it an attractive place to eat for shoppers.
